This weekend will see a large influx of TKE volunteers from Region 3 in Milwaukee. Zeta Zeta's own Regional Director Greg Roskopf has arranged for the regions first volunteer gathering this upcoming weekend to take in the sights of Milwaukee and Miller Park. Fraters from across Pennsilvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin will all roll into town on Friday night to get settled and start to talk about some of the challenges that we face today as volunteers in our great fraternity. On Saturday we plan to kick off at 9am with some discussion and planning for the region moving forward to make it the best in TKE, and once we are done there, we will be headed to Miller Park for an all things Wisconsin tailgate which is being run by the lovely Jeannie Jackson (Gamma Phi Beta alumnae). This event continues a great time of year for Milwaukee's Tekes, having already initiated 10 men into the fraternity, now hosting this event plus another Initiation on sunday for undergraduate men, and all followed up with the 50th anniversary celebration the weekend after that! It's a great time to be a Teke. |

As Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity celebrates its 109th birthday, the Zeta-Zeta Chapter of TKE has enjoyed its first fifty years and golden anniversary! Originally the Alpha Chapter of Beta Phi Theta fraternity, the Zeta-Zeta Chapter came into existence when UWM Student Body President and Beta Phi Theta Grandmaster Donald Rambadt was contacted by TKE’s Field Supervisor George C. Wood. Wood told Donald about a fraternity that based its membership on the personal worth and character of the individual rather than the wealth he possessed, the honors or titles he could display, or the rank he maintained on the social ladder. Constant contact was maintained with TKE until April of 1957. Finally, after being contacted by other national fraternities and studying each, Beta Phi Theta relinquished its National Chapter to Delta Chapter and formally petitioned to become affiliated with Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. With the backing of 500 alumni and a spirit and willingness to grow inwardly as well as outwardly, Alpha Chapter of Beta Phi Theta became the Zeta-Zeta Chapter of TKE on January 10th 1958,

02/01/2008 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Grand Council of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity has announced the appointment of Frater Robert L. Barr, Jr. (pictured right) to the TKE Grand Council. Frater Barr will serve as Grand Histor, an office recently vacated by Frater Charles J. Trabold. The eight member Grand Council serves as the Fraternity's board of directors. In announcing the selection, Grand Prytanis Mark K. Johnson stated "Bob Barr is a superb Frater and a proven leader. His experience as a respected public official, commentator, and having served on numerous boards of directors will serve TKE and our Grand Council well. We very much welcome him to our Teke leadership team." Barr assumes the role of Grand Histor immediately. Frater Barr was initiated into TKE in 1967 at the University of Southern California, Beta-Sigma Chapter. He is a Life Loyal Teke, and recipient of both the Teke Alumnus of the Year (2001) and TKE Triangle awards (2005). Barr was appointed by President Ronald Reagan (Iota Chapter, Eureka College) as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia (1986-90), served as a high ranking leader in the U.S. House of Representatives (1995-2003), and has been a columnist and contributor to several media outlets. Frater Barr currently serves as CEO of Liberty Strategies, LLC, an Atlanta-based public and governmental relations firm. Grand Prytanis Mark Johnson also announced the appointment of Frater Daniel R. Levinson (pictured right) as the Fraternity's new Judiciary Committee Chairman. The judiciary committee serves as advisors to the Grand Chapter, Grand Council, and CEO on matters related to TKE rules and operations. Levinson is also an alumnus from the Beta-Sigma Chapter, and currently heads the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. He previously served as Inspector General for the U.S. General Services Administration and as General Counsel for the U.S. Product Safety Commission. Frater Charlie Trabold will continue to serve the Fraternity on a number of special projects and provide leadership to chapters in the Northeast. Trabold has also been named as TKE's delegate to the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), the trade association which represents the men's college fraternity system. "With his experience on the Grand Council, professional staff, and with the Association of Fraternity Advisors, I can think of no one better suited to represent TKE," said Kevin Mayeux, TKE Chief Executive Officer. "We're grateful that both TKE and the fraternity movement will continue to benefit from Charlie's strong leadership." |
