Lets take a moment to reflect on the history behind this world changing event.

20 years ago a governmental super power known as the Soviet Union watched as the society which it had built up around the world based on their political philosophy came to an embarrassing end. Something historians say could never happen again, a perfect storm in some essence. Their economy was in tatters, they acted arrogantly abroad, had little real friendships left with other countries around the world, and they made the regrettable decision to invade a sovereign nation of militants known as Afghanistan. However, much of the problems facing the Soviet Union came to an end when a fresh new charismatic leader took office and promised prosperity and nationalistic strength, and even won the Nobel Prize. The culmination of these events resulted in the destructive, devastating end and the crumbling of the empire with the fall of the Berlin wall.
